Spokes meeting: Tramline to Granton: Orchard Brae or Roseburn Path?

Edinburgh City Council plans to consult in summer 2024 on connecting Granton to the existing tramline, then onwards to Bioquarter. Our meeting will debate the pros and cons of the two alternative route proposals – some of these are discussed in the 21.2.24 blog at spokes.org.uk.

The meeting will discuss…
(a) All or any aspects of each choice, for example, expected patronage, ecology, enjoyment, feasibility, costs, and implications for all forms of transport
(b) The specific impacts of each choice for cycling and cycleroutes
(c) Followed by our 1-hour panel discussion and QA

  • Speakers – to be announced at spokes.org.uk
  • Doors open 18.45 for coffee, stalls and chat. Starts at 19.30, Ends 21.30

Free event

For cycling: If the tram uses Roseburn, a walk/cycle path will be included, but its design is not yet known and clearly the ambience and the ecology will be negatively affected
For cycling: If the tramlines are onroad, safe cycling provision will be very difficult, for example at Dean Bridge, Orchard Brae and some junctions
