Bikes for Refugees (Scotland) – Bike Donation Drop

Do you have a bicycle that you could donate to a New Scot refugee/asylum seeker? Bicycles provide essential mobility and freedom of movement for isolated and economically disadvantaged new Scots. With no right to work and an asylum allowance of only £6 per day for all daily living expenses (food, clothes, toiletries, public transport etc.) bicycles are a lifeline for many New Scots.

Bicycles help individuals and families to connect with important community services, activities and meetings; reduce loneliness and isolation; help develop new social support networks and friendships; promote mental health and wellbeing as well as physical health, and support community resettlement.

Come drop your bike at our community hub and meet our volunteers and staff over a cup of tea/coffee and cake. Find out about our activities and other ways in which you can support our valuable work, such as volunteering, fundraising, and new collaborations and partnerships.

Please complete our website ‘donate a bike’ form in advance of the day so that we can expect you and that we have the details that we require. Please mark clearly in the form that you intend to bring your bike to the bike drop day.

If you are unable to attend the bike drop day, we still welcome your bike donations-please complete our web form, and we will get back to you to discuss.

Please Note- the better condition the bike the better. With limited time and resources for major repairs, and a big demand for bikes, we aim to get bikes into the hands of New Scots as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible. We particularly welcome good condition adult bikes. Childrens bikes require to be in very good condition. THANK YOU
