Happiness is a road at least 10,000-miles long – from Edinburgh to Bhutan on a bicycle

Christopher Boyce always knew that the idea of cycling to Bhutan, the small kingdom in the Himalayan foothills world-renowned for its national focus on happiness, was at least a little absurd. Yet, from the outset, his journey to Bhutan on a bicycle felt like a pilgrimage that he, having made a career for myself researching happiness, could not refuse to undertake.

So, in October 2017, he quit my job and left behind the life he’d created in Edinburgh to begin this epic journey. A journey that has brought unbridled joy and happiness, as well as deep challenge and heartache. He hoped to have finally completed the journey by April 2019 and in this event he’ll share his experiences, talking about why he undertook the journey, what he was looking for, and what he learnt along the way that may help others in reaching their own personal version of Bhutan, be it by bicycle or some other way.
