Bike Tour – Edinburgh’s 20th Century Buildings
Edinburgh’s medieval and Georgian streetscapes are rightly renowned the world over, but what about the living city that has continued to develop after the laying down of New Town terraces and Victorian villas?
Join us on a bike tour of some of Edinburgh’s 20th-century architecture, built in an era that is often maligned and excluded (rightly or wrongly, depending on your opinion) from the tourist’s popular image of Edinburgh. We will be meeting at the middle of Middle Meadow Walk. Please bring a bike in roadworthy condition.
The ride is 18 miles long with regular stops and will last up to 3 hours, taking in mostly north Edinburgh and finishing back at the Meadows. The route has been designed to be pleasant as well as interesting, but as the 20th Century was unfortunately also the Century of the Car, there are by necessity short stretches of riding on main roads, as well as cobbles!
